{"value"=>"<p>In 1978, the US Agency for International Development sought proposals from organizations to review and develop the Small Scale Enterprise. The Peace Corps developed PISCES. With the success of PISCES, the Peace Corps wanted the Small Development Office to develop an in- service training program that would integrate small enterprises development concepts into all the Peace Corps programs. Partnership for Productivity (PfP) submitted the successful bid to develop this program.</p> <p>Small Business Capacity Development (SBCD) files, 1984-1986, contain an assessment/evaluation of the work conducted by PISCES. The countries include Bolivia, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Haiti, Malawi, Philippines, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and many islands in the Caribbean.</p> <p>The Small Enterprises Financing Organization (SEFO) and the Business Advisory Service (BAS), circa 1982-1986, were two separate organizations working together to advance small businesses in Liberia. The records indicate that SEFO and BAS had a difficult relationship. A draft report by USAID/Liberia noted that SEFO mismanaged their loan portfolio, and BAS did not expend the time necessary to generate creditworthy clients for SEFO. This resulted in a \"Memorandum of Understanding\",1986 to better coordinate the work between these two entities.</p> <p>The files contain activity reports, cables, correspondence, country profiles, data, financial information, memorandum, notes, printed matter, projects, proposals, reports, and trip reports.</p>"}
