{"value"=>"<p>Under Chairman Mack W. Beeks and Gertrude Beeks Easley, this department looked into anti-American influences in the public schools, and led a campaign to encourage the development of a patriotic morale which would help in the coming war against Hitler. Part of this campaign consisted of commissioning posters of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Betsy Ross, for use in schools. The files consist solely of correspondence with supporters of the campaign for patriotism through education. Much of it is with two organizations, the Daughters of the American Revolution and National Defense Through Patriotic Education. There also are subscriptions to the Patriotic Documents campaign.</p>"}
