Scope and arrangement
Letters to, from, and relating to Napoleon I, Emperor of France. Letters from Napoleon are addressed to Comte de Sussy (Minister of Commerce), an unnamed Minstre de la Guerre (ostensibly Louis-Alexandre Berthier), and an illegible recipient. One letter from Josephine, Empress Consort, is addressed to an unspecified "Citoyen Ministre." Also present are letters between Robert Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh; Madame de Bonneuil; and a Walter Spencer of London, relative to a plan by Castlereagh to abduct Napoleon, and to Madame de Bonneuil's financial plight, escape from arrest, and the reimbursement of funds to her by the British government.
