Herma Hoyt Briffault (1898- ) was an American author and translator. Beginning in the late 1940s she worked with Vilhjalmur Stefansson researching the history of the Russian-American effort to create a telegraph system between Alaska and Siberia. Collection consists of Briffault's typed manuscript, correspondence, research materials, and related papers. Typescript is "To the Yukon and Beyond", a story of the Russian-American telegraph expedition of 1865-1867 to the Arctic region of Alaska and Siberia. Also, correspondence regarding its publication, copies of source materials concerning the expedition, Briffault's resume, and copies of newsclippings.
