The Duke of Veragua was a descendant of Christopher Columbus. Collection consists of volume of 46 citations, in Spanish, for individual and grouped letters and documents, 1488-1929, pertaining to Columbus. Also included in the volume are clippings of articles about the Duke and the documents; and the Duke's letter, 1894, in French, transmitting the catalog to the Lenox Library. The documents were on display at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago and were then sold to the government of Spain.
