The Schuylers were descendants of General Philip Schuyler (1733-1804), a Revolutionary soldier, statesman, and powerful land owner in New York State. Collection consists of correspondence and a few miscellaneous papers of various members of the Schuyler family. Correspondence is largely incoming.
