This volume contains records of the Humane Society in Bath, Maine, complete from its organization in 1793 until 1812, when the society was disbanded and funds distributed. Records include articles of association, proceedings, a roll of members, and accounts of the Society, which was one of the earliest mutual or local cooperative insurance societies. The volume also contains the accounts of John Minot Moody, a shipbuilder who lived in Bath. Moody's account entries concern the Pejepscott Right, shipbuilding, and family accounts; these entries date from 1820 to 1844
