Hugh Hall, Jr. was a wealthy merchant of Barbados. He graduated from Harvard College in 1713 and later went into business with his father in Barbados. The diary, 1714-1717, records Hall's weather observations in almanac form, a census by parishes of negroes, windmills, cattle mills, etc. in Barbados in 1716, and genealogical notes on the Hall and Clark families. The volume also contains memoranda on Pennsylvania and the Delaware River.
