Scope and arrangement
The Muriel Stuart papers (1930s-1982) consist chiefly of Stuart's handwritten lesson plans and notes for her ballet classes. Lesson plans describe specific daily exercises. A small amount of dance articles, scores, and printed teaching material is present with the lesson plans.
The collection also contains photographs of Stuart teaching ballet in 1967 and 1968; unidentified photographs from around the 1930s; a short speech Stuart wrote regarding her early ballet education; a 1940 certificate declaring her an honorary member of the Chicago Association of Dancing Masters; and several short letters from colleagues.
