Edward Law, 1st Baron Ellenborough, English judge. After Ellenborough dealt radical writer Daniel Isaac Eaton a lengthy prison sentence and the pillory for blasphemy in 1812, Shelley wrote A Letter to Lord Ellenborough, in Eaton's defence. To the Home Secretary (Richard Ryder) : 1 autograph letter signed : 1 Aug 1810 : (S'ANA 0218) : reporting his opinion that no clemency should be allowed to Thomas Davison, the bookseller, sentenced to two years imprisonment for sedition.
