Jules-Amédée Barbey d'Aurevilly, French novelist and short story writer. He is probably best known for his Les Diaboliques, a collection of stories, each of which relates a tale of a woman who commits acts of violence, crime, or revenge. Autograph translation of Thomas Campbell's poem, "The Last Man" : [no date] : (MISC 1881) : 4 p.; the French is written alongside the English, line by line. Also included: a copied fragment of Shelley's Alastor.
