Samuel Barrington, British naval officer. In 1779, while battling the French in St. Lucia, Barrington briefly became second in command to Admiral John Byron, grandfather of Lord Byron. To Captain Douglas, Commander of His Majesty's ship, the Vigilant : 1 autograph document signed : (MISC 0629) : titled, "Disposition of the Fleet in Order of Battle and of Sailing." With the note: "Given under my hand on board the Britannica the 7th Septemr. 1782.".
