Beauvais Fox (1876-1955) was drama editor of the
New York Tribune in the early 1920s and a theatrical press agent. Fox served as president of the Theatrical Press Representatives of America in 1929, and was also a member of the New York City-based social club The Players. The Beauvais Fox papers contain outgoing correspondence and publicity files that document Fox's work in New York theatre from 1923 to 1935. Outgoing correspondence discusses Fox's reviews in the
New York Tribune, administration of the Theatrical Press Representatives of America, activities of The Players, and the work of fellow press agents in New York City. Many correspondents are associated with The Players. A partial list of correspondents is included in the collection. Publicity files date from 1929 and consist of press releases and clippings for two productions promoted by Fox:
Macbeth and
The Beaux Strategem.
