Scope and arrangement
The collection, dated 1985 -1990, contains the production books of Vern Calhoun for the productions of Alexander Cohen. Cohen, as executive producer, created Broadway events and television specials. These production books document how the productions were planned down to the last details.
The information, in the production books, include contact names of individuals working on the productions, a list of guest artists, the scripts for the guest artists, a list of secondary booked talent, budgets, employees for the productions with their title, scheduled meetings, memorandums, and notes. With the specifications for the events constantly shifting, the production information was kept in loose leaf binders that allowed sheets of paper to be added and removed. A sample binder was retained with the collection. Some of the production books were supplemented with notebooks. These notebooks were Calhoun's handwritten notes for the events.
