The Shubert Theatre Organization is America's oldest professional theatre company and the largest theatre owner on the Great White Way. Since 1900, the company has operated hundreds of theatres and produced hundreds of plays and musicals both in New York City and throughout the United States.

Biographical/historical information

The Shubert Theatre Organization has been at the forefront of the American theatre since the start of the 20th century. The Organization currently owns or operates seventeen Broadway theatres, one Off-Broadway theatre and three theatres outside of New York City.

Under the leadership of Philip J. Smith, Chairman and Co-CEO; and Robert E. Wankel, President and Co-CEO, the firm continues to be involved in the presentation of distinguished theatrical presentations.

Scope and arrangement

The collection contains contracts, stage manager's reports, performance reports and one script. The contracts are for copyrights, designers, music, actors, crew, staff, and production. All of the contracts are photocopies bound in leather.

The stage manager's reports include dates, number of performances, curtain times, running times, accident reports, sick reports, understudies and comments. The performance report contains similar information as the stage manager's report.
