Scope and arrangement
Box 1 contains promotional materials related to various theatrical productions of LIVENT, Inc. There are also files dedicated to a 1997 reorganization of Livent and annual reports for 1996 and 1997.
Box 2 contains a musical jewelry box, bearing an image on the lid of the facade of the Ford Center for the Performing Arts (New York, N.Y.), presented as a gift on the opening night of the musical Ragtime on Broadway, January 18, 1998. The box plays the main musical theme from the production. Also included is an enamel and crystal brooch in the shape of an American flag created for the Democratic National Committee's 150th anniversary event and given to Hillary Clinton by Eleanor Goldhar at an intermission of a performance of Ragtime. Lastly included is a VHS tape titled "Chicago 'Oriental' Dedication Reel" (1998, 7:53).
The oversized folder contains 9 window cards for productions associated with LIVENT and others. Productions documented include Candide (1997, Gershwin Theatre, New York, N.Y.); Follies (circa 1987, Shaftsbury Theatre, London, Eng.); Fosse (circa 1998, no location); Kiss of the Spider Woman (1993, Broadhurst Theatre, New York, N.Y.); The Little Foxes (1981, Martin Beck Theatre, New York, N.Y.); Parade (1998, Vivian Beaumont Theater, New York, N.Y.); Pygmalion (1987, Plymouth Theatre, New York, N.Y.); Ragtime (1996, Ford Centre for the Performing Arts, Toronto, Canada); and Show Boat (1998, Prince Edward Theatre, London, Eng.).
