Scope and arrangement
The Roger Machado papers contain scores for four of Machado’s compositions written for José Greco: Garbo De Andalucia (co-composed with Greco), Jotas, Malagueña=Granadina, and Danza Española (El Vito). All are for orchestra, with the exception of Jotas, which was composed for a jazz big band with strings and a vocalist. None of the Machado scores are dated.
The rest of the collection documents the career of the opera singer Norina Greco, the sister of José Greco. It holds two scrapbooks of clippings and programs (dating from 1938 to 1946), five publicity photographs of Greco in opera roles, an incomplete publicity biography, and a Verdi score autographed to Greco by an unidentified musician.
Arrangement
The papers are in two divisions: Roger Machado and Norina Greco.
