Scope and arrangement
Louis Moreau Gottschalk is the focus of this collection created by S. Frederick Starr. In his book Bamboula! The Life and Times of Louis Moreau Gottschalk Starr explored the life and music of the composer. The collection primarily includes chapters of Starr’s manuscript, photos of Gottschalk and his friends and colleagues, reproductions of original drawings and places of his time. There are also works and memoirs by other authors discussing Gottschalk’s life
The S. Frederick Starr papers are arranged in four series:

This Series consists of draft chapters for the Starr’s book, notes and research materials grouped and titled by the author

This Series includes additional materials to the chapters, copies of Gottschalk’s notebooks, diary and album, works by other researches regarding Gottschalk

This Series includes illustrations for the S. Frederick Starr book and his guide to the pictures and pictures that wasn’t include in the book
