This collection contains a selection of mostly popular songs by Paul Pallos.
Paul Pallos was a composer based in Vienna who published mostly operetta-like songs between 1900 and 1920. The exact number of his compositions is unknown, but it is believed to have included hundreds of such songs.
In his haste to depart from Austria during the Anschluss in 1938, Pallos was able to leave with only a tiny portion of his published output, that which is represented in this collection.
He eventually emigrated to the United States and lived in the New York area. The date of his death is unknown.
All the music in this collection is for voice and piano, except for the two earliest items which are for solo piano (see folders 1 and 2). Pallos favored texts by Fritz Grünbaum and Hans Pflanzer.
The handful of photographs and two postcards (the latter from Franz Lehár) attests to Pallos's musical connections.
