Elizabeth Timberman (1908-1988) was a New York photographer and actress. The Elizabeth Timberman Art History notebooks contain four books kept by Timberman during her time at the Colorado School of Fine Arts in the late 1930s.
Elizabeth Timberman (1908-1988) was a New York photographer and actress. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, and was a graduate of Oberlin College and the Colorado School of Fine Arts. She appeared at the Cleveland Playhouse for 10 years before coming to New York, where she took up photography. Her work appeared in Life magazine and was exhibited in one-woman shows. In 1941 Timberman was awarded a prize for her photography by New York's Museum of Modern Art.
The Elizabeth Timberman art history notebooks contain four books kept by Timberman during her time at the Colorado School of Fine Arts in the late 1930s. There are two notebooks on Modern Art, one on Modern Architecture, and one on Italian Painting. All four notebooks have detailed, handwritten course notes as well as pasted in illustrations showing famous works of art, architectural drawings, and other course handouts.
