Luis Muñoz Marín (1898-1980) was a Puerto Rican writer and political leader. He was the first elected governor of Puerto Rico and was in office from 1949 to 1965. In 1927 he served as representative to the U.S. of the Economic Commission of the Legislature of Puerto Rico and visited New York to persuade American businessmen to invest in his country's economic development.
