In addition to collections of personal papers and organizational records, over its 100 year history the Manuscripts and Archives Division has acquired miscellaneous letters and documents created by a variety of individuals, both prominent and obscure. The collection consists of files on over 10,000 individuals whose names are listed below. The contents of each file can range from a single clipping to several letters and holograph manuscripts. Traditionally, these small "collections" have been gathered together in what has been know as the Miscellaneous collection. In 2003 its name was changed to the Miscellaneous Personal Name File to distinguish it from other collections that the Division had formed over the years to hold "miscellaneous" materials related to particular subject. Library staff is preparing individual descriptions for each file. A-C have been complete. This finding aid is offered to provide access to the files not yet cataloged individually.
