William Robert Langfeld (1882-1941) was an American bibliographer and poet. His published bibliographies were devoted to Washington Irving. He contributed poems to the anthology Pennsylvania Poets (1936). Collection consists of correspondence, handwritten notes, dealers' catalogs, and printed materials about Washington Irving. Bulk of collection is letters received by Langfeld from book dealers, librarians and bibliographers concerning his work on Irving.
William Robert Langfeld (b. 1882-) was a Philadelphia bibliographer and poet. His published work in bibliography is devoted to Washington Irving: a compilation of Irving's poetry (NYPL Bulletin vol. 34) and a bibliography of Irving's work (NYPL Bulletin vol. 36), later published as a monograph by the Library in 1934. He also contributed a set of poems entitled "Modernity" to the anthology Pennsylvania Poets, Henry Harrison, Publ., New York, 1936.
The bulk of this collection is comprised of correspondence received by Langfeld between the years 1927 and 1941, with most of the letters dating from the period 1930-1936. For the most part these letters are from book dealers, librarians and fellow bibliographers and related to Langfeld's work on Washington Irving. The collection also contains handwritten notes, dealers' catalogs and printed material all relating to Washington Irving.
