Scope and arrangement
The bulk of the Judith Scott photographs document dance events in which Scott performed from the 1950s through the early 1980s. These performance files include black and white 35mm negatives and contact sheets. Some performance files also hold black and white prints, color 35mm slides, and printed event announcements. Several files of photographs for her book projects are included in the collection. Two portrait files hold posed and candid portrait photographs of Scott from the 1960s through the 1980s. Other subjects include the Dance Incorporated Chicago company and dance classes for children taught by Scott. A file of promotional material holds performance announcements, press releases, newspaper clippings, and performance schedules, many of which include reproductions of photographic prints found elsewhere in the collection.
