Scope and arrangement
The José Limón Dance Foundation, Inc., records consist mainly of the financial records of The Limón Institute. The remainder of the material consists of administrative files included minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors, office files, material from summer residencies, and contracts.
The collection is important because even 30 years after the death of its founder, the Foundation is still teaching the Limón technique and supporting a world-renowned dance company.
The José Limón Dance Foundation, Inc. records are arranged in five series:

1974 - 19915 boxes
This series contains legal contracts between the José Limón Dance Foundation and various organizations and individuals. It is arranged alphabetical by country and state.

1972 - 200223 boxes
This series contains the files of the offices of the José Limón Dance Foundation Inc.

1976 - 200113 boxes
This series contains material about the Summer Dance Program. Sometimes it is referred to as a summer residency and early in its incarnation it was called the International Choreographic Program. Information consists of applications, scholarships, and limited financial material, housing information and material about the campus where the residency will take place.

This series contains financial material, including cancelled checks, bills paid, deposits, tax forms, loan and grant applications, and invoices.
