The Life of Robert Fulton (New York: Kirk & Mercein, 1817) compiled by Thomas Addis Emmet in 1887. Inserted material depicting Fulton’s life and work consists of original manuscript letters and documents, 1767-1829, and numerous 18th and 19th-century engraved and lithograph portraits and views. A watercolor drawing by Fulton of ship boilers appears on the verso of his letter of 1808 October 12 (1 leaf only). The imprint also contains small engraved Fulton portraits and steamboat pictures added as inlaid vignettes.

The Robert Fulton Collection consists of manuscript letters and documents by or relating to him, including photostat copies of items held in private collections, chiefly concerning steam navigation. Miscellaneous items include a drawing of a torpedo detonator and a lease signed by his father, 1767. The collection is an artificial amalgamation of Fulton materials acquired through donations and purchases.

Marianne Wing was born about 1819 in Braintree, Essex, England, the daughter of William Wing. By 1851 she was living in Chelmsford with her husband, William Abbott, a retired farmer, and their two young children, Joseph William and Clara Maria. Ten years later she was living with her husband in Black Notley. By 1881 she was widowed and living with her unmarried sister, Sarah Wing, in Lambeth. In 1889, at age 70, she married James Raper, a joiner/carpenter, at St Stephen's, Walbrook. She died an inmate at Peckham House Lunatic Asylum on February 17, 1892. Manuscript notebook containing 36 original poems and prose meditations, with 12 original illustrations. A dedication, to the author's brother, is dated January 20, 1836; another piece is dated 1834. Most of the other pieces are undated, but appear to have been written around the 1830's and are signed either "M Wing" or "M W." One poem (leaf 43 recto) is signed "Marianne Wing." The final two poems, dated 1880 and 1881 (each written to one of her grandchildren), are signed "Mrs. Abbott" and "M. Abbott," respectively. An ownership inscription at the front reads: "Mrs. W. Abbott / Original Poems." The illustrations, mostly watercolors of birds and flowers, include pencil drawings of Cowling Castle in Kent, a rose, and a sailboat. In contemporary green calf with gilt border on covers; spine gilt, with two red morocco labels reading "Original" and "Vol. I.".

The text opens with a five-page and two-line guide to Linnean taxonomy copied from Priscilla Wakefield's Introduction to Botany, followed by twenty-one lines on the pleasures of nature, apparenty by Beecroft herself. The bulk of the volume is composed of a series of carefully-rendered full-page pencil and watercolor illustrations of plant specimens (28 in all), followed by manuscript identifications and descriptions. A forty-eight page alphabetical list of plants, including Latin and (when possible) English names, is at the back.

Most album entries are signed by members of the Godson family, including Eliza Godson, Richard Godson, Mrs. Richard Godson, Mary Anne Godson and Margaret Godson. The 1861 census lists Sarah Godson, age 56, living at Court House in Tenbury Wells, along with Margaret and Eliza, all three unmarried. Sarah Godson is still living with Margaret at Court House in the 1871 census, but her age is listed as 69. Other contributors to the album include Ann Say Nixon, Frances Mary Emily Sarragin, Marie Owen, and Eugenia Sabilla. Album formerly owned by Sarah Godson of Tenbury Wells, Worcester, England, filled with manuscript and artwork contributions by her family members and friends. On the first leaf recto is scripted in pencil, "Sarah Godson / February 1829," beneath which is written in pencil in a later hand, "Tenbury=Worcester / Tenbury Wells / E.A.G." The manuscript entries are mostly poems, some original, some copied (Byron's "Youth and Age"; Mary Anne Browne's "Woman's Heart"; Tennyson's "Anacreontics"). Among the artwork contributions are a fanciful painting of a woman composed entirely of flowers; a watercolor of a black woman carrying a basket; a highly-detailed pencil drawing of a crested pheasant; watercolors of a "Country Woman of Meris Wanden" and "A Milkman of Fribourg"; a watercolor of an Arabian man; a number of other watercolors and drawings (many of flowers); and several printed illustrations (engravings, etc.). Laid in is a drawing of a young woman, clearly based on an early photograph.

His papers include working versions of cartoons in draft form (from ideas supplied by McCallister, and/or with captions subsequently supplied by McCallister) by a number of well-known cartoon artists for The New Yorker. Particularly well represented are Chon Day, Mischa Richter, Robert Day, Perry Barlow, Alain, and Barney Tobey, as well as drawings by McCallister himself. Born in Exeter, New Hampshire, he was the son of Henry Dearborn (1751-1829), an American army officer and statesman, and Dorcas Osgood Marble. The Henry Alexander Scammell Dearborn writings comprise six scrapbook volumes containing his published writings, speeches, and reports, and Dearborn's collected papers regarding his role in the 1842 Dorr Rebellion in Rhode Island. The volumes were compiled by Dearborn for his family between 1844 and 1849; contents date from 1806 to 1849. The Srimathi Gina papers document Srimathi Gina’s studies, choreography, performances, and teachings in Indian classical dance from approximately 1935 to 1980. One of two women to graduate from St. John’s Law School in New York City in 1929, Jewish-American Gina Blau left her law practice to study Indian classical dance in the 1930s, eventually becoming a master performer and teacher in the United States, performing under the name of Srimathi Gina. Materials include in-depth notes on Indian classical dance and Indian culture; programs; costume and scenic directions; casting notes; professional correspondence; a typed memoir of travels to India; and photographs, prints, and other images.

Stella Duckworth (1869-1897) was the half-sister of Vanessa Stephen Bell, Virginia Stephen Woolf, and Thoby and Adrian Stephen by her mother Julia Jackson Duckworth's marriage in 1878 to Sir Leslie Stephen (1832-1904), a prominent Victorian author and editor. Stella Duckworth married solicitor John Waller ("Jack") Hills (1867-1938) on April 10, 1897 in London, where she died on July 19, 1897. The Hills-Duckworth papers, dated circa 1860-1955, consist of personal and family correspondence, financial documents, photographs of Duckworth and Stephen family members, graphics, and miscellaneous items that were largely in the possession of Stella Duckworth at the time of her marriage to John Waller Hills in 1897, and retained by him after her death. They hold additional correspondence and other items belonging to John Waller Hills and his second wife, Mary Grace Ashton Hills.
