Robert Browning, English Victorian poet and playwright. The Robert Browning manuscript material in the Pforzheimer Collection consists of his writings and correspondence. The writings include one holograph verse play (Colombe's Birthday), some autograph corrections of printed proof sheets (La Saisiaz and Jocoseria), and one holograph sonnet, "Tutti ga I so gusti e mi go I mii." The bulk of the correspondence is dated between 1876 and 1887 and discusses both his professional and personal life, and his Shelley related interests. Robert Browning, Sr., clerk in the Bank of England, father of the poet and playwright Robert Browning. Album of sketches : (MISC 1937) : 62 leaves, loose in binding, containing unsigned caricatures and drawings in pencil and in ink and watercolor, text in pencil and in ink beneath. The caricature sketches and text form short narratives, somewhat like comic strips. Three drawings appear to be in a different hand.
