Broadcasting organization of the United States government founded in 1941 as a division of the Office of War Information. The Voice of America recorded radio programs from commercial radio stations in the United States and rebroadcast them in Europe. The collection contains a wide variety of musical programs prepared for rebroadcast over Voice of America stations. Included in the Archives' holdings are: various Bing Crosby shows (including Kraft Music Hall, Chesterfield, and Philco Radio time), Ford Evening Hour, and Harvest of Stars radio programs. Also included are performances of various symphony orchestras including: the Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, NBC Symphony, and Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as recordings of the American Music Festival and the Festival of the American Music.
