The Marilyn Wood papers, dating from the 1950s to 2016, consist of photographic materials, programs, notes, notebooks, journals, posters, fliers, interviews, press clippings, and video recordings created and collected by Wood over the course of her career as a dancer, choreographer, artistic director, and producer. The bulk of the papers detail Wood's work as the artistic director and choreographer of worldwide site-specific, festival-like performances that she called celebrations. less

Mary Wigman (1886-1973) was a German dancer, dance instructor, and choreographer notable for her work in expressionist dance. Her many students included Yvonne Georgi, Hanya Holm, Harald Kreutzberg, Gret Palucca, Margarethe Wallmann, Inge Weiss, and Meta Vidmar. Nancy Brock was also a student of Wigman's from 1953 to 1954, and they maintained a correspondence until Wigman's death. This collection documents the relationship between Wigman and Brock through their personal correspondence, photographs, articles that Brock and others wrote about Wigman, and preparations for "Mary Wigman Day" in 1958 as well as Wigman's 80th birthday celebration. It also contains some of Brock's correspondence with others in the dance field, including Lincoln Kirstein, John Martin, Charles Weidman, and Louis Horst, as well as Brock's lecture notes from her time as a student. less

Barbara Arnest (1923-2017) was a writer and the editor of The Colorado College Magazine, the college's alumni magazine. Arnest, a long time Colorado Springs resident, worked on an unfinished biography of modern dance pioneer Hanya Holm, who taught at the Colorado College Summer Dance Festival for over forty years. The Barbara Arnest collection of Hanya Holm material dates from 1965 to 1986 and is primarily comprised of Arnest's notes (some of which she took while observing Holm's classes), interview recordings and transcripts, bibliographic research, and a few incomplete drafts. Approximately a dozen programs for Colorado College dance performances and the Colorado Opera Festival are present.
