Lydia Maria Francis Child (1802-1880) was an American abolitionist, reformer and author. She published works on numerous subjects, including domestic advice, children's literature, abolition, and religion. She was an active abolitionist in New York and Massachusetts. Collection consists of correspondence, manuscript and miscellaneous papers. Bulk of correspondence is letters written by Child to Ellis Gray Loring. Collection consists of personal and business correspondence of Amos Whittemore and his sons, Timothy, Henry and Gershom, relating mainly to the manufacture of brushes for the carding of cotton and wool.
