The Eliot, James, and Livingston Genealogical Research Papers contain the genealogical research conducted by several members of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. The bulk of the collection consists of genealogical notes on the Stoutenburgh and Livingston families produced by Maude Stoutenbergh Eliot, Philip Schuyler De Luze, Mrs. Ellot James, and Charlotte Lucia Livingston, between 1870 and 1930. The collection also contains correspondence, chiefly letters to Charlotte Lucia Livingston dealing almost entirely with genealogical research, some family photographs, printed material related to the research, and applications to hereditary societies. There is also a small amount of material concerning the Bangle Club, of which Livingston was a member, including a handwritten copy of its by-laws. The Utility Club of New York City was founded in April 1917 to raise money and entertain soldiers during World War I. Over the years it evolved into a community organization focusing on expanding volunteer service throughout Harlem. Led by Mrs. Louise Fisher Morris who was president from 1933 until her death in 1979, the Utility Club awarded scholarships and educational aid, in addition to annual contributions to over thirty social welfare and civic agencies and organizations. An annual event was the anniversary luncheon in which members of the community were honored. In 1954 the Utility Club presented its first annual debutante cotillion, which served as the Club's prime fund raising affair. The Utility Club of New York City Records consist of letters of acknowledgement from the recipients of funds donated by the Club, invitations and programs for events it sponsored, and souvenir journals for luncheons and cotillions. less

The American West Indian Ladies Aid Society (AWILAS) records are fragmentary in content, making it difficult to determine the actual transition of officers and other organizational activities, the exception being sick and death claim requests and payments. There are some financial and medical records and related correspondence; minutes; a few membership applications; correspondence with other benevolent organizations; and a folder of printed material, consisting of tickets, raffles, flyers, programs, invitations to events hosted by different organizations, Communist Party literature, bulletins, commercial solicitations, and political literature. There is correspondence between Ashley L. Totten, A. Philip Randolph (National President of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters) and Casper Holstein discussing issues of concern to all Virgin Islanders. less
