Terry Southern (May 1, 1924-October 29, 1995) was an American author, essayist, screenwriter and university lecturer, noted for his satirical style. The Terry Southern archive spans the years 1924 to 1995, with the bulk dated 1955 to 1995. The collection consists chiefly of autograph and typescript drafts of Southern's novels, stories, screenplays, television scripts; journals, diaries, and notebooks. Other materials include incoming and outgoing correspondence, photographs, personal and financial papers and documents (including passports, hunting license, mortgage documents, bank statements, and canceled checks), publishing contracts, newspaper clippings, and realia, including his typewriter. Also included in the archive is writing by others, including Peter Beard, William S. Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Jules Feiffer, Bruce J. Friedman, Allen Ginsberg, Henry Green, Southern's biographer Lee Hill, Mason Hoffenberg, Mick Jagger, Jonathan Marquand, George Plimpton, V.S. Pritchett, Larry Rivers, Richard Seaver, Jean Stein, Rip Torn and Alexander Trocchi, papers by his students, and dissertations and papers about his work. less

Frank Wuttge, Jr. was a writer and researcher with interests in the history of New York City, Edgar Allan Poe and poetry. His father, Frank Wuttge, Sr. was a photographer active in German-American organizations. Collection consists of correspondence and other papers of Frank Wuttge, Jr. and his father. Papers of Frank Wuttge, Jr. include personal correspondence; correspondence with Ewald Vorsteher concerning European refugees; and writings about Edgar Allan Poe, Joseph Rodman Drake, German history, New York City, and Biblical Greek. Papers concerning his father include biographical information with correspondence and memorabilia. Collection also contains scrapbooks, newspaper and magazine clippings, slides, and posters. less

The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage, owned by the City of New York, has been open as a museum since 1917. Poe lived in the cottage, located in the Bronx, N.Y., from 1846 until his death in 1849. It was declared an official city landmark in 1966 and has been under the administration of the Bronx County Historical Society since 1975. Collection consists of writings, artifacts and newspaper clippings relating to Edgar Allan Poe and the Poe Cottage. Writings include typescripts of works about Poe and holograph and typescript poems submitted to Poe Cottage poetry contest in 1925. Also, list of members of Poe Cottage Committee, register of visitors to cottage; genealogical notes, scrapbook of clippings, photographs, and articles and miscellaneous papers concerning Poe. Design drawings by G. W. Mercier in black and white watercolor for the film Fool's Fire, adapted and directed by Julie Taymor from the Edgar Allan Poe story, Hop-Frog. Taymor's first film, Fool's Fire, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, won best drama award at the Tokyo International Electronic Cinema Festival and was broadcast in March 1992 on the PBS television series, American Playhouse. Taymor designed the puppets, masks and costumes for the production which used live actors behind the masks with the exception of the two dwarfs who were unmasked. Also contains a color photo of Mercier, the production designer for Fool's Fire, with a set. less
