Among these were the Overseas Touring Project, the Playwrights Project, and the Rare Books Project, which oversaw the publication of rare theater texts in a partnership with the University of Miami.</p> <p>This sub-series contains correspondence as well as reports, budgetary materials, applications for consideration by universities and playwrights, and some publications.</p> <p>Of interest are the materials relating to the Overseas Touring Project, which partnered college theater departments from around the country with the United Service Organization to take student productions of musicals and comedies on the road to servicemen in Germany and Italy in the 1950s and 1960s. These files contain detailed reports on each group's progress, production, and six to eight week travels through various bases in Europe.
