{"value"=>"<p>Outgoing correspondence consists of three series of volumes containing copies of letters sent by office staff to soldiers and other claimants, military officers, government officials, USSC personnel and others regarding claim applications. The first series, as originally called, contains copies of letters personally written and signed by solicitor William N. Ashman. These are followed by copies of letters written by various clerks, including John G. Parker (J.G.P.) and George E. Alkins (G.E.A.), signing Ashman's name with their initials below; and those by assistant solicitor James W. Hazlehurst, also signing Ashman's name with his initial \"H\" below. Many letters include a claim number assigned by the agency. All of Ashman's volumes and the first two volumes written by clerks contain indexes.</p>"}
