Forms identify the originating office. Briefs were sent by PWCA to their special agent at ANCA (King and later Randlette). ANCA staff then recorded the status of the claim on their books, using their own brief form; Randlette would note on these the date any explanatory letter was written to New York. At some point the two briefs concerning the particular individual were combined. Briefs are arranged chronologically by the month in which the claim status was examined and reported, and alphabetically within by first letter of soldier surname.</p>"}
