{"value"=>"<p>Registers predominantly record claims by soldiers for invalid pensions; claims by relatives of deceased soldiers for arrears of pay and bounty and a small number of claims for widows’ and naval pensions are also found. Entries include U.S. Pension Office application number (for pension cases), soldier name, rank, regimental information, nature and date of disability, and date of filing. Subsequent notations concern correspondence with claimant, Pension Office or other government department, evidence required, acceptance or rejection of claim, and amount paid or reason for rejection. The processing of these claims was continued after 1865 Jul 10 by ANCA. Entries for new applications for this type of claim are found in ANCA’s invalid pension registers and in M.P. Barry’s 1865 local agent register below. Entries are in alphabetical order by first letter of claimant surname and rough chronological order within; as alphabetical sections were filled, entries for that letter continued in the next volume. Pension Office application numbers range roughly in sequence from the 10,000’s to the 70,000’s across the volumes.</p>"}
