The correspondence is filed chronologically by year and is alphabetical by author's last name within each year. This subseries represents the early work of the agency and shows how Russell and Volkening worked with their clients and were friends with many of them. The majority of the correspondence concerns manuscripts submitted by the clients, reports to the clients on the work of the agency on their behalf, and letters accompanying royalty and other payments, but there is personal correspondence throughout the subseries.</p> <p>Included in this subseries is correspondence with Peter Bogdanovich, Maeve Brennan, William Gage, Mavis Gallant, Lester Goran, Henry Beetle Hough, Leopold Infeld, Dan Jacobson, Virginia Johnson, Sue Kaufman, Thomas H. Lineaweaver III, Hugh MacLennan, Alan Marcus, Ralph Moody, Paul Moor, Marianne Moore, Raylyn Moore, Wright Morris, George Panetta, Ernst Pawel, Ann Petry, George Plimpton, Eliot Porter, George Logan Price, Thomas Pynchon, Chaim Raphael, Mary Carter Roberts, Philip Roth, Nancy Rutledge, May Sarton, Ken Shiflet, Frederick Shroyer, Howard Singer, May Natalie Tabak, Barbara Tuchman, Rexford G. Tugwell, Edward Wagenknecht, David Wagoner, David Walker, Eudora Welty, and Greer Williams. Although most of the correspondence between the agency and M.F.K.
