{"value"=>"
These files are arranged by author: joint projects by Gittings and Lahusen are listed first, followed by writings by Gittings and writings by Lahusen. Gittings' untitled book project with Frank Kameny contains correspondence, notes, and drafts for a proposed book on homosexuality dating from 1969-1971.

Of particular note is Lahusen's book, The Gay Crusaders, which she co-authored with Randy Wicker. The Gay Crusaders was the first collection of biographies of gay activists to be published (1972). Materials include a project proposal, reviews and press clippings, royalty statements, drafts, notes, and sound recordings of interviews documenting the process of proposing, researching, and drafting the book.

Unless otherwise stated, all interviews were conducted by Kay Tobin Lahusen. Please note that the people present during the interview often are not introduced. The names of interviewees, additional people present at the interview, and if the interview was conducted by telephone, has been included when known. Multiple interviews for an interviewee have been listed chronologically. The supplementary interviews, which Lahusen conducted shortly before publication to fact check previous interviews, can be found after the alphabetical run of interviews. The supplementary interviews were recorded back-to-back on the original media without notable breaks in the recording.
"}
