Letters regarding McKim's architecture career reflect his work, particularly his designing of the Boston Public Library, the formation of the American Institute of Architects in Rome, and his role at the 1993 Chicago World's Fair. There are letters from such noted architects as Philip Brooks, Cass Gilbert, Sir Aston Webb, George Brown Post and McKim's partners, Stanford White and William Mead. In addition, there are letters from artists commissioned by McKim including Daniel Chester French, Frank Millet and Edwin A. Abby and one sketch by Abbey.
