{"value"=>"
Alphabetical files are arranged by the title given to them by Leary and his associates or a title supplied during processing by NYPL archival staff to accommodate previously unsorted material. The files represent records generated during work on particular projects; files containing material by, to, or about people or companies with whom Leary collaborated or hoped to collaborate; subject files of material accumulated by Leary as background research; and files representing formats or types of materials such as posters, calendars, or electronic records whose content spans the time periods, projects, and general substance of other identified files. These records reflect the broad range of Leary's activities and interest during the last 20 years of his life, notably his work in computing and with leaders in the emerging cyberculture. File titles are often idiosyncratic and the files themselves incomplete; they are often complemented by material from nearly all the other subseries in this series. Researchers with an interest in particular people and projects during this time are advised to scrutinize each subseries as a potential source.

This subseries contains a large volume of electronic records. Disks containing digital files related to Leary's work on Software Development are grouped under that heading. Disks containing digital files produced during work on particular projects, are listed alphabetically by project title, and include executable software. Those disks containing digital files related to multiple projects are described in the Chronological Files subseries. As in the case with all of Leary's papers, digital files in more general groups include material related to more specifically named projects.

Some files contain material predating the time span of this series; this is a product of Leary and his collaborators mining his own archives for material relevant to a given project or interest he was pursuing during this time.
"}
