{"value"=>"<p>Papers filed here relate to Clarence Day's undergraduate education at Yale from 1892 - 1896, and his subsequent activities on behalf of his alma mater. Included are examination papers, essays, notebooks and the class history address delivered by Day at the 1896 Yale commencement ceremony. Day's involvement in alumni affairs is documented by correspondence, memos and printed material pertaining to his ownership and editorial interest in the <span class=\"title\">Yale Alumni Weekly</span> and the founding of the Yale Publishing Association and Yale University Press. Letters and notes exchanged between Clarence Day and <span class=\"title\">Yale Alumni Weekly</span> editor Edwin Oviatt, in which the two friends discuss Day's earliest writings, are of particular interest. Also filed here are materials pertaining to Day's long service as Secretary of the Class of 1896, and his preparation of several publications that reported on the activities of his former classmates. Material in this subseries is complemented by correspondence with members of the Yale class of 1896 filed in Subseries IB.</p>"}
