{"value"=>"<p>The primary focus of this subseries is on the personal and business affairs of Katharine Day after the death of her husband in 1935. Included are condolence letters on the death of Clarence Day, information on the posthumous publication of his writings, materials relating to stage and screen adaptations of <span class=\"title\">Life With Father</span> and correspondence with attorney Basil N. Bass regarding the settling of Clarence Day's estate. There are also childhood letters of Wendy Day, the author's daughter, and material that documents Katharine Day's continuing relations with the Day family. A few items pre-date the death of Clarence Day, including letters and postcards from Katharine Day's mother, Etta Dodge. Researchers should note that Katharine Day's spelling of her first name changed over the years. Early school papers record the spelling as \"Katherine\" and this is how she signed herself through the early 1920s. Around 1928 she began to use \"Katharine.\" Her name appears with this spelling on legal and financial documents from the 1930s forward, and this is the form used throughout this finding aid.</p>"}
