{"value"=>"<p>The Committee on Correspondence and Diffusion of Information was formed in February 1863 (beginning as a subcommittee of the Executive Committee), when the WCAR implemented New England Women's Auxiliary Association's associate manager system. The WCAR's tributary states were divided into sections, each with a manager who supervised the aid societies in their section, organized new ones, and corresponded with the committee monthly. Louisa Lee Schuyler served as chair. Over 800 aid societies contributed supplies to the WCAR by the end of the war.</p> <p>The Committee also supervised several canvassing agents who delivered hundreds of lectures throughout the area, and distributed USSC publications. Prior to 1863, correspondence with aid societies was handled by a subcommittee of the Executive Committee and by Schuyler. Other committee members included Julia Curtis, Angelina Post, C. Nash, and Helen Marshall.</p>"}
