Entries include the packing letter and number for each individual package, date of packing, shipping number, brief description of contents, date of shipment, destination, and name of the Executive Committee member who shipped the package. Entries are initially in one chronological order. Beginning in February 1863, shipments were classified under general headings, such as shirts, drawers, bedding, sundries of clothing, stores (e.g., alcohol and foodstuffs), special boxes, special soldiers, and miscellaneous. Special boxes were usually shipments sent as a courtesy for various persons, and special soldiers generally referred to items given or sent to soldiers as a form of individual relief.</p>"}
