The files contain essays written by a number of scholars and correspondence between the contributors and Meier and Litwack concerning acceptability of the essay or editorial changes to be made. A version of the chapter (sometimes annotated) is generally included. There is also correspondence between Meier, Litwack and the University of Illinois Press, publishers' announcements, and dust jackets. Included is a file for Bettye Collier-Thomas, although her contribution was not used in the book.</p>"}
