Correspondence from the late 1940's when Meier was attending Columbia University in pursuit of his Master's degree describe his courses and current events including his opinions about black related issues. Meier continued his course work at Columbia for his doctoral degree; correspondence during this time discuss his research for his dissertation. Letters from Meier's years at Fisk University describe his responsibilities and complaints as a research assistant to Charles S. Johnson, his experiences applying for a job, and his belief that his resume may have caused people to believe he was of African-American ancestry.</p>"}
