{"value"=>"<p>Arranged alphabetically by subject or correspondent. Folders for specific branch libraries are filed under \"Branch Libraries,\" followed by the name of the branch (eg. Branch Libraries - Mid-Manhattan Branch). Records consist of assessments, brochures, budgets, charts, drawings, incoming and outgoing letters, legislation, leases, legal documents, memoranda, minutes, newsletters, notes, press-releases, and reports. The papers chiefly document the activities of the Office of Branch Libraries that involved the Director's Office. The main activities documented in these files are the construction of the Donnell and Mid-Manhattan Branch Libraries, and NYPL response to the public controversies about the funding and condition of the Schomburg Collection of Negro Literature and History (now the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture). There are also files for many of the branch libraries, which record non-routine activities such as remodelling and branch openings. Information on the finances of the Circulation Department can be found in Subseries A, described above.</p>"}
