{"value"=>"<p>The Miscellaneous files consist of material on the Audubon buildings, the Audubon Society of Canada, and the Bird Club of Long Island, Inc.</p> <p>The Audubon buildings file includes papers (1937-38) of John H. Baker and others relating to the purchase, outfitting and maintenance of the NAAS headquarters building at 1006 Fifth Avenue; and correspondence (1952-53) between Baker and Verner Walter Johnson regarding the outfitting of the building at 1130 Fifth Avenue.</p> <p>The Audubon Society of Canada was founded in November of 1946 by NAS in cooperation with the Royal Ontario Museum of Zoology and the Federation of Ontario Naturalists. John H. Baker was elected its first president, and Carl W. Buchheister, its vice president. The records (1946-61) consist of correspondence of John Baker, minutes, memoranda, charter and by-laws, and financial statements.</p> <p>The Bird Club of Long Island, Inc., was founded in Oyster Bay in 1915 by Theodore Roosevelt for the preservation of song birds on Long Island. In 1947, the organization was dissolved and its assets transferred to NAS. The records (1915-49) consist of correspondence (1945-47) of its president, Mrs. Child Frick, and other officers of the club; minutes, membership and by-laws; and a scrapbook (1915-37) of publications of the Club, annual reports and ephemera.</p>"}
