{"value"=>"<p>The ornithological correspondence, which is arranged chronologically, is that of William Dutcher as member of the committees on migration, law and legislation, and the Committee for the Protection of North American Birds of the American Ornithologists' Union. The correspondence relates to the food, habits, breeding, and migration of birds, and to the protection of sea and land birds, especially the snow goose (white brant) and Labrador duck along the Atlantic seaboard from Maine to Florida.</p> <p>Much of the correspondence in the 1880s relates to Long Island birds, and to the collection of data by Dutcher for a history of Long Island birds. Interfiled in the correspondence are ornithological reports made by hunters, journals of Dutcher's field trips on Long Island, photographs, clippings and other printed matter.</p>"}
