{"value"=>"<p> <span class=\"title\">The Effect of Dance Therapy on Ego Boundary Disturbances</span></p> <p>The purpose of this research project was to determine the effect of dance therapy, given three times a week for six weeks, on the ego boundary conditions of eight young schizophrenic inpatients at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. A test-retest design with experimental and control conditions was used. The Barrier/Penetration scale of the Rorschach Inkblot test was used to measure change in the penetrability and impenetrability of the ego-boundary. Statistical analysis consisted of a two day analysis of variance with one repeated measure. The effect predicted was a higher Barrier score and lower Penetration score in the experimental group after the intervention of dance therapy. It was predicted that there would be no change in either the Barrier or Penetration score in the control group during post testing. No statistically significant differences were found when the mean Barrier and Penetration scores of the experimental group were compared to those of the control group on post-testing. Nor were there any statistically significant differences found when the pre and post Barrier/Penetration mean scores of the experimental group were compared. It was suggested that negative results may be related to 1) the low n of the sample size 2) the short time period of the intervention and, 3) the differences in ward milieu of the experimental and control groups. With improvement of these conditions, further study of this hypothesis is suggested.</p>"}
